Dia del Nino - A Delightful Day for Children

PetAid Colorado was delighted to be a part of Dia del Nino, a day at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science geared toward creating access to future opportunities for the children of Colorado.

The Consulate General of Mexico in Denver and the Mexican Cultural Center invited us to host a booth at this free, fun-filled event on April 23.

Packed with families from all over the country, Dia del Nino featured a variety of international music and dance performances, as well as face painting and even a climbing wall! Mickey Mouse, Hello Kitty, and Dinger of the Colorado Rockies were popular attractions for the kids to visit, as was Denver Public Library's bookmobile.

We spoke with quite a few children and their parents, many of whom were pet owners and wanted to learn more about PetAid's mission to provide the healthcare safety net for underprivileged pets.

Our visitors seemed both enthusiastic and relieved that PetAid is able to administer veterinary care to the pets of individuals who live on fixed incomes and have personal barriers to receiving care in a typical veterinary clinic setting.

In an effort to spread further awareness of PetAid, we also provided an arts and crafts activity for the children visiting us (much to their delight)! They were asked to color a paw and to give a description of why they loved their pets. Reasons varied from "He likes to eat treats" to "We play outside" and of course, "She's family."

We thoroughly enjoyed interacting with all of the families who came to speak with us about celebrating the human-animal bond. They truly made it a day to remember for us!
