Veterinarians and Business Professionals Gather in Support of PetAid Colorado
The Puttin’ for PetAid golf tournament, presented by the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society, raised over $21,000 for PetAid Colorado – the healthcare safety net for pets – on August 23, at Littleton’s Raccoon Creek Golf Course.
Fifteen teams, comprised of 60 local veterinarians and other business professionals, took part in a mad scramble for top score under bright, sunny skies at the scenic golf course. The difficulty of the course and the radiance of the green were accented by sparkling ponds and a stunning view of the mountains.
Team Phung earned the first place title. Its members Ung Phung, Marlon Neely, DVM, Ric Harshman, and Ted Vasilas took home $75 gift certificates to the Raccoon Creek Golf Course Pro Shop. Second place was awarded to Team Nelson Animal Hospital. Clark Nelson, DVM, George Nelson, Tom Coates, and Tom Larkin were presented with $50 gift cards to the Pro Shop.
Additional prizes in five special categories – “Longest Drive by a Male,” “Closest to the Pin by a Male,” “Longest Drive by a Female,” and “Closest to the Pin by a Female” – brought out the competitive spirit of everyone and contributed to the day’s atmosphere of fun. No golfer claimed the largest prize of the day, $5,000 for a Hole in One, although many put forth vigorous effort.

Girl Scout Cadets/Seniors Pets & Vets An interactive educational program that involves children ages 9 and older in animal health and welfare. The program focuses on involving them in animal health and welfare awareness and in exploring the veterinary medical field. Their learning includes an educational tour of our Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital with a demonstration from hospital medical staff on the different types of procedures that they perform for animals. Medical staff share information about spaying and neutering and how important it is to animals in their community. They are also engaged on a variety of animal welfare topics that educate them about heartworm, flea, and tick prevention and basic animal wellness and care.
Registration is only open to Girl Scouts Mile High Council members, but donations are always accepted. Make an online donation click here, and put "Girl Scouts" under the gift remarks.
Thank you Wags & Menace Make a Difference Foundation! “PetAid Colorado Animal Hospital is so grateful for the continuous support from Cindy Lee and The Wags & Menace Make a Difference Foundation. Since the establishment of The Wags & Menace Foundation, the Girl Scouts Pets & Vets program at PetAid Animal Hospital has educated over 3,000 girls about animal welfare issues and the veterinary profession. Your wonderful and continuous support with our annual fundraiser, Mutts & Models Canine and Celebrity Fashion Show, has helped us to care for over 7,000 animals annually. Thank you for all that you do for the state of Colorado and at PetAid Colorado Animal Hospital in helping so many animals and people in need. Many thanks!”
